My name is Janet Marie Joyce (JMJ). I live on the Upper West Side in NYC. As a child I was an avid artist and oil painter. I spent hours painting, sculpting and creating art pieces. My name is Janet Marie Joyce (JMJ). I live on the Upper West Side in NYC. As a child I was an avid artist and oil painter. I spent hours painting, sculpting and creating art pieces. I had an annual art exhibit at the Malverne Public Library until I was a teen. For some reason, I let this passion go stale, tried a few attempts through the years yet never got my mojo back. Then after the tragic loss of my sister #cancersucks, I gave it a go again at #theartstudionyc. This time it was different when I was painting. I was relaxed, digitally unattached and found an inner peace that most would envy. Some may say, I channeled my childhood hero Princess Leia – Carrie Fisher – "Take your broken heart, make it into Art." Thus, I call my paintings JMJ Aisling – JMJ for my initials and yes, my mom did that on purpose, same as Jesus Mary & Joseph, and Aisling is an Irish/Gaelic feminine given name meaning "Dream" or "Vision." Getting back to painting has given me a way to disconnect and find my inner Zen. I use many different mediums, such as oils and acrylics to express the creative beauty in the world. Who knows, maybe my dream as a child to be an Artist may come true, Hope is always a good thing!
